The Executive Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Dr Yahya Saidu, has died, barely three months after assuming office.
Saidu reportedly died in the early hours of Friday, October 9, 2026, throwing the people of Fufore into mourning.
His death makes him the second chairman of the council to die in office in less than two years. His predecessor, Alhaji Shuaibu Babas, died on April 23, 2025.
Saidu, who was sworn in on July 15, 2026, was regarded by many residents as a philanthropist and grassroots mobiliser. His death has cut short his tenure at a time when he was expected to begin implementing his development agenda for the area.
Reacting to the development, the member representing Fufore/Song Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Aliyu Boya Wakili, described the late chairman as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the community would be greatly missed.
Meanwhile, the family had yet to announce burial arrangements as of the time of filing this report.
