Reeve Energy Limited has taken a major step into Ekiti State’s emerging aviation market with the inauguration of an aviation fuel depot at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, positioning the company to support growing flight operations and cargo transportation.
The facility, commissioned this October , is expected to strengthen fuel availability at the airport as Ekiti intensifies efforts to attract more airlines, boost agricultural exports and expand commercial aviation.
Speaking at the inauguration, Reeve Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Efuru Nwakuche, described the project as the product of collaboration between the company and the Ekiti State Government.
She said the investment would improve aviation fuel services, support increased flight activities and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
The depot comes ahead of United Nigeria Airlines’ planned commencement of cargo operations at the airport in January 2027, alongside plans for daily passenger flights—developments expected to increase demand for reliable aviation fuel supply.
The airline’s Executive Chairman, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, said the carrier was prepared to support cargo transportation from Ekiti to destinations across Nigeria and internationally.
To support the anticipated growth, Governor Biodun Oyebanji said his administration was working to complete improvements to the airport’s Instrument Landing System and install aerodrome ground lighting to enable round-the-clock flight operations.
He disclosed that the ground lighting project would cost more than ₦10 billion, while plans were also underway to provide an independent power supply for reliable airport operations.
The governor commended Reeve Energy for investing in the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to private-sector partnerships that can drive economic development.
With the new depot, Reeve Energy is positioning itself at the heart of Ekiti’s aviation ambitions. As airlines prepare to expand operations, the facility could become a critical link between dependable fuel supply, efficient cargo movement and the state’s wider economic aspirations.
